Supernatural Podcast: "Bloody Mary"

Listen Now

This episode wasn't quite as creepy as "Phantom Traveler," but we still enjoyed it.

Sam and Dean battle Bloody Mary

The Bloody Mary legend gets us reminiscing about our own preteen sleepover horror stories (thankfully, no eye-gouging -- just a frozen bra or two). We're intrigued by the Winchesters' secrets: Sam's we know, but Dean's is still a mystery. And Sam's many layers have us wondering what else lies beneath the surface...

Supernatural Podcast: "Phantom Traveler"

Listen Now

Poor Mia! She's already afraid of flying, and now we've subjected her to the airborne exorcism of "Phantom Traveler."

Dean, demon-hunting at 40,000 feet

We like seeing the brothers' dynamic change this week -- we saw Dean's vulnerable side and watched Sam take control and calm him down. But there's so much more to discuss: the many types of demons (Mia and I are still learning), the trials and tribulations of getting holy water in your carry-on, and our take on the guys sporting suits for the first time. Plus, we're wondering what the elusive John Winchester is up to...

Supernatural News: Kripke Makes a Deal, Katie Cassidy Out, Jared Loses His Undies

Jared in Sydney -- more pics after the jump!A lot has been happening on the Supernatural front. First up, Variety reports that Supernatural’s Fearless Leader/Malevolent Genius Eric Kripke has signed a two-year deal with Warner Bros. TV. In addition to running Supernatural, Kripke will develop new projects for the company. Potential projects? Well, Kripke has said he wanted to do a sort of Supernatural prequel set in the Old West and exploring some of the show’s mythology (like the origin of the Colt, we assume?)

But that’s not all: TV Guide broke the news that Katie Cassidy is gone from the show. “She’s great, but this was unfortunately a financial decision — purely budgetary, because creatively she was terrific," Kripke said. "I have nothing but great affection for Katie, and she was great for the show. It was a very difficult business decision about the realities we are in."

We can’t say we’re totally surprised – after all, Katie had some serious detractors, and Ruby did seem pretty darn dead in the season finale (what with being possessed, then dispossessed by Lilith.) Still, it’s a bit of a shock, since Ruby seemed to be an important character. What do you think about the news?

A hilarious Jared story and great Jared pics from Sydney after the jump, so keep reading!

Supernatural Podcast: "Dead in The Water"

There's an overwhelming sense of dread in this episode, and we ended up pretty freaked out by the end (it didn't help that the lights in the podcasting room flickered ominously while we were watching the scary bathtub scene).

The brothers

In our Supernatural podcast for "Dead in The Water," Sarah, Mia and I argue about the appropriate way to bathe, love how the brothers balance each other out ("Thanks, college boy!"), and wonder whether or not Wisconsin is inherently creepy. Wee also address the debate in last week's comments.

Supernatural Podcast: "Wendigo"

We're back with another Supernatural podcast! What starts out as a genuinely creepy episode turns into monster-movie fare -- but that doesn't mean "Wendigo's" not worth watching. It's worth it just to see the beginnings of the Winchester relationship and the boys' conflicting attitudes about hunting.

Dodging the Wendigo
In this podcast, Sarah, Mia and I discuss why creature episodes don't always work and why guest stars can be awesome -- or fall flat. There's also much love for the car and Dean's taste in music (but what does Sam like? Speculate). Listen to our Supernatural podcast for "Wendigo" and let us know what you think!

Yet Another Movie for JDM

Papa Winchester is rolling in movie roles. Jeffrey Dean Morgan has been cast in Shanghai as an American who is killed in the Japanese-occupied city before the attack on Pearl Harbor. He'll be starring alongside John Cusack and Ken Watanabe.

We're always happy to hear about Jeffrey getting cast in films -- we think he's an amazing actor and a great guy. But this particular notice made us especially gleeful, because The Hollywood Reporter identified him by his Supernatural credit rather than bringing up that recurring role on Grey's Anatomy again. Finally!

Welcome to the Supernatural Podcast!

Sarah and I have finally gotten around to starting the podcast for Supernatural (and we'll force Jackie to do it with us once she's back from Italy. While I can't say that I'm looking forward to all the gore that I'm sure will take place, the Pilot episode was really great.

Supernatural Season Finale Recap with Jason C.

Dean dead? How can it be? Well, I guess anything can happen when the Winchester brothers are involved. This episode had us in tears, especially since we'll have to wait a few months to see our boys again. Until then, here's Jason C. with a recap of the finale.

Supernatural: Kripkeeeeeeeeeeee!

Holy crap. Holy crap! Supernatural hit us with the most shocking finale we’ve seen since the beloved Metallicar was t-boned by a semi. How could they do this to us?

We catch up with the guys when Dean’s got about 30 hours to live. Things are looking grim for Dean – he’s dreaming of Hellhounds, hallucinating demon faces, and generally cursing his fate. The good news? Bobby thinks he might be able to help. Now that they know Lilith holds the contract, they can track her down and kill her. How hard could it be?

Pretty darn hard, thank you. Lilith is a bad-ass, and the normal demon-fighting procedures won’t cut it. Sam wants to summon Ruby to get her knife but Dean won’t hear of it. She lies! Sam sneaks off to summon Ruby anyway – give me your demon-killing knife! Ruby says that won’t do a whole hell of a lot, but Sam? He just might already have the skills he needs to save Dean. See those demon-controlling powers that Old Yellow Eyes gave to his general are lying dormant in Sam. If he can tap into them, he can control Lilith and save Dean.

Supernatural: Who Wants to Live Forever?

We're backing away slowly from the melon ballers after this episode of Supernatural! Seriously-we haven't been that freaked out (or grossed out) in a very, very long time. Something about the immortal Dr. Benton, with is stitched-up face and borrowed organs, just gave us the willies. Gah!

The guys investigate a town where people are turning up with missing livers, or waking up in a bathtub full of ice minus a kidney. Could it be zombies? Well, not unless zombies are suddenly using Civil War-era surgical techniques. The various bits are being harvested.

Supernatural: Long-Distance Calls

We're getting to the end of the season, and Supernatural seems to be pulling out all the stops. This episode struck just the right balance between scary and poignant, between touching and downright creepy. How do they do it?

The case of the week is pretty eerie - the dead seem to be calling still-living loved ones in one Ohio town, and people aren't dealing well. One guy ends up blowing his brains out after spending too much time on the phone with an insistent - and deceased - high school sweetheart. Dean wants to find out why, but Sam is more interested in working on that other case - you know, the one where we're interviewing everyone we can think of on the face of the planet to get you out of your deal? It's not working, Dean replies - no one can help me, not even Ruby. She told me so herself.

Dean changes his tune when he gets his own seriously long-distance call - it's John, and he says he's got a way to free Dean from his deal. Dean is elated, but Sam is skeptical - how do we know it will work? What are the odds of Dad calling you from beyond the grave? Maybe we should slow down... Dean doesn't want to hear it - this is my last chance, why are you raining on my parade? Gah!

News Roundup: 90210 Spinoff, Supernatural, Aliens in America, BATG

Jessica Walters joins the 90201 spinoff cast! We've seen a whole lot of CW-related news stories crossing our desk, and it's time to share. Dig in!

The Beverly Hills 90210 spin-off is building up its cast nicely. Despite early rumors that Hilary Duff would be taking the lead role, Zap2It.com now reports that "Degrassi: The Next Generation" actress Shenae Grimes will be playing the show's updated Brenda Walsh, Annie Mills.

But we're even more excited about this next bit of casting news, that comes to us courtesy of TVGuide's Michael Ausiello: Jessica Walters, who starred as the boozy matriarch in Arrested Development, will be talking the role of Tabitha Mills, the boozy, famous-in-the-70s actress grandmother! We love Jessica, and we can't wait to see how she tears into this role. It'll be great!

BuddyTV reports that Supernatural will be losing a recurring character: mercenary "acquisitions expert" Bela won't be coming back in season 4. We can't say we're surprised: She always seemed a bit spackled on to us, and she provoked a lot of ire among the fans.

Supernatural: Ghostfacers!

OK, the folks from Supernatural were having WAY too much fun with this episode. They managed to skewer reality shows while still creating a scary beastie that made us jump. Plus, we had some classic lines, some serious gross-outs, and the a couple of lessons to live by -- like don't get in the way of the Winchesters!

Supernatural is pre-empted by "Ghostfacers," the scariest thing to come out of reality TV since Brigitte Nielsen met Flavor Flav. It's from the minds of Harry and Ed, the geniuses we first met in "Hell House." They've got a stunning pilot to present to network execs recently hit by the crippling writer's strike ("lazy fatcats!"), and promise it will be the scariest hour of television -- and of our lives!

Ed and Harry now have a team -- Maggie, Ed's sister; Spruce, a cameraman, and Corbett, an intern, who has a crush on Ed. They're going to stake out the Morton House, where a ghost appears every four years. No one has ever lasted the night in the house on Leap Day -- but the Ghostfacers pledge to break that streak!

Of course, things get more complicated when the Winchesters crash the party.
