The Vampire Diaries: Apparently Vervain is On Par With Iocane Powder

How is it that it's so easy to dose the unsuspecting with this stuff? What's next, a six-fingered vampire? This week's Vampire Diaries delivered hoop skirts, bloody Katherine, and deep family intrigue in spades.

Trust. Trust is difficult to cultivate when you're a vamp -- particularly, apparently, if your last name is Salvatore. Boys! Can't we all just get along?

We do wonder exactly when Katherine turned them, though, since it appears that they weren't turned at the time that she was caught by their well-meaning but rigidly anti-vamp father. We wonder about gray areas, and think that Mr. Salvatore should have at least considered what Stefan was saying about judging the vamps on the content of their character, to borrow a phrase. Now, to be fair, we don't think that Katherine's character would stand up to the sort of scrutiny that Stefan would have liked. And did you see the vamp muzzle!? That thing looked positively medieval. Maybe it was because it looked so oxidized.

More on the yummy Salvatores after the jump!

This ep was so chock full of awesome, we sort of don't know where to start. Stefan's feelings of guilt? The revelation that Anna was pulling strings to achieve the same goal as Damon? Damon's whininess about not being able to trust Stefan and Elena? How pleased we are that Bonnie seems to be catching on to how to act when she has a zap? How much bloody-faced Katherine making a squeamish Damon kiss her amused us? How Stefan is now giving out nicknames to minions who don't even have nametags ("dimwit")?

Where was Caroline. And Wereboy (Tyler, we think?)! We want more, please.

And let's talk about Emily, she who was totally in on everything and happy about it. Did she just grow a conscience in her ghost state? We think we like the Emily from the Civil War era better.

So. Damon deserted because of his conscience. Riiiiiiiiiiiight. That predicates his having one. Seems more likely that he didn't dig how smelly it all was and that he wanted to be back with Katherine again, duh! Oh, and since we're on the topic, how pleased are we that sarcastic quasi-cheerful playful Damon is back? Of course he's pissed with Stefan, but so what. That's a constant."Oh, if I see something I haven't seen before, I'll throw a dollar at it. " Yay! for his getting over his grumpiness.

Did you notice all the shirtless vamps in this ep? Tell us what you thought of that in the comments!

I really enjoyed watching this episode.
Couldn't disagree more with Susan's unpleasant comments ! Stefan didn't betray Katherine, he went to his father in an attempt to save her. He was naive and got fooled.

it is so good!

Ok, great episode...love the fashion from when Stefan and Damon were young...
Tough I need to say I felt kind of sorry for Damon..No wonder he is how he is...when even his oh-so-good brother is always doing stuff behind his back..
And please Stefan stop pretending you're sooo good-.-' Seriously he has no problems with acting just like Damon always does-without the killing of innocent, of course. And Damon was right..it WAS Stefan's fault, if he'd just shut up and for once wouldn't had listen to his conscience Katherin would be still fine. Not that she's not a bitch, but it seems kind of weird that Stefan loving her so much would go to his father.
And seriously..Damon kissing bloody Katherine? Just gross.
But...loved Damon as almost every episode..:)

please please please do a podcast for TVD......

you all should do VD podcasts!
