We're down to Round Three of the Smallvillle Big Bad Bracket, and that means things are getting tense! We had a couple of blowouts last week, several tough matches, and a couple of down-to-the-wire nail-biters. General Zod completely crushed Island-Invader Marcos -- and we expected no less. Doomsday made short work of Obsession, and The Justice League demolished the Fortress of Solitude. Again, not exactly shocking outcomes.

Things were a bit more hard-fought in the next group of matches. The Phantom Zone put up a fight, but the Legion Ring won in the end. Black Kryptonite had to work to vanquish Memory Wipes, and Jimmy's (?) Death traded the lead with Lie Detector Confessions before coming out on top.

But it was the two matches from the survivors of the Yowza! Division that came down to the wire. Stiletto stabbed and slashed at Zatanna, but the mistress of madness managed to prevail. Finally, Naked Distraction suffered quite a battle at the hands of Kara's Departure, but it was able to hold on to the end.

So now it's time for these battle tested veterans to go at it again. Will it be General Zod or Doomsday who prevails as the Biggest of the Bads? Can the lovely Zatanna withstand Ollie's Naked Distraction? Will Jimmy's (?) Death survive against Black Kryptonite? And how will The Justice League fare against the time-traveling power of the Legion Ring? Your votes decide! Polls are open until Sept. 3, so get voting!

Zod’s arrival In a show like Smallville, the best things happen when beings not of this world interact with this world. And who better than the General himself? That’s right, Season 8 left us with Zod finally appearing. BOOM! Doomsday The biggest enemy of the season was undoubtedly Doomsday, the beast within Davis Bloom. He had superstrength, and invulnerable hide, a lust for blood and even a kick-ass villain name… but the last fight left much to be desired. We can’t help but think (hope?) that we haven’t seen the last of this beast.
Zatanna This gorgeous magician had abilities that were second to none – unless you count her father’s. Granting the heart’s deepest desire, Zatanna showed Chloe the life of Lois and Clark the life of a mortal human. She also gave Ollie her number, which would’ve been magical for most men. Naked distraction OK, so Ollie and Tess had a past. A naked past. So when the Green Arrow is almost caught when he’s trying to steal black kryptonite from Tess’ room, he shucks his leathers tries to explain his presence with a little naked seduction. Works for us!
Jimmy's (?) Death Jimmy Olsen discovers Clark’s identity in time to be killed by Davis Bloom while kissing Chloe. We later discover that Jimmy is not "the" Jimmy, but the older brother of the true Jimmy Olsen. Um, okay... Black Kryptonite Season 8 brought back the black. In the whole Doomsday/Davis debacle, it was the slamming of Black Kryptonite into Davis’ chest that separated the man from the beast. Though it eased Clark’s conscience with killing Doomsday, it also allowed Davis to kill Jimmy in a jealous rage.
Justice League This group of modern-day heroes—led by Green Arrow and counting heroes Black Canary, Impulse, Aquaman and Cyborg as members – can get a little frustrated with Clark, but they’ve got his back. They’ve also got sonic screams, metal exoskeletons, superspeed and fish-finding abilities at their beck and call. Legion Ring On two different occasions, the Legion brings a ring back to Clark that allows him to time-travel. The first one sets everything back to even after Linda Lake tries to make a mess of Clark’s identity. The second sends Lois…somewhere. Or somewhen?
