One Tree Hill Podcast: "The Desperate Kingdom of Love"

Listen Now

We're back! Finally! We've got our season 2 DVDs for One Tree Hill, we've got Jackie's brand-spanking new apartment to record in, and we've got enough, erm "essential supplies" to get us through a whole spate of episodes -- so let's get to it!

Deb, Haley and Nathan

For all the drama from last season, this first ep of Season 2 feels a bit disjointed to us. Oh, there's plenty of drama -- Dan's on his deathbed (the first time of many, we know...) Whitey has a brain tumor, Lucas and Keith have fled Tree Hill, Nathan and Haley got hitched, and Peyton and Brooke have made up... but this ep almost felt like it was marking time.

That's not to say we didn't find plenty to talk about -- there's Huey Lewis! Eeeee! And Deb completely loses it at Naley, which makes us mad. Plus, Keith makes lists, Brooke and Peyton burn Lucas' letter, Whitey dispenses wisdom (or dirty talk, as far as I'm concerned) and Naley is adorable. Listen in to see what we had to say! (Um, sorry about the echo -- we were podcasting in Jackie's gorgeous new place, which has high ceilings and next to no furniture, so our voices bounced. After enough booze, so did we!)

Welcome to season 2! YAY!!!

i'm soooo glad you guys are back podcasting the old seasons. i love the old ones so much, the new ones suck compared to them even tho i still love the show. i've been feeling nostalgic for the older seasons so i might go watch 1-4 just cuz they're amazing haha. but i loved the naley scenes in this episode soo much. i really don't like deb for quite a few episodes in this season cuz she's just so mean to haley. but yes you're in for a lot of entertainment when the whole deb/keith scandal comes out. and there's a lot more to the lucas/peyton/brooke triangle coming than you think! i can't wait to hear your thoughts on them and i'm sooooo glad you girls are back!!!

It would be cool if you could publish these podcasts on an rss feed or something like it so that not only people using itunes can subsribe to it. please do that!

Season 2 is one of my favorite seasons of OTH.
I totally agree on the bad acting by James. I promise it does get better though!!
And one of the Scott's in the hospital is a trend for EVERY season. Get used to it...

(Just a sidenote about the sleepover and pillow fights - there's some classic classic OTH coming for you. ;) )

(And Whitey, back in S1, said he was going in to the hospital for his eyesight. That was why Dan coached the game in the finale.)

Anyway, I can't believe you guys didn't looove this episode. I honestly think it's one of the best episodes of the show. It had such a purpose - fill in the gap (even if it was just 48 hours). I remember being so super excited for this one to air because the season 1 finale was so cliffhanger-y, and I wasn't disappointed at all.

And these first few eps are the best, IMO. Before they start adding random people for no reason (hello Felix, Anna, and Taylor. And even Chris Keller if you want to lump him in there.)

wellcome back girls
we miss you....

Back podcasting! Yay! Thank you! I'm not going to spoil anything, but you are correct on the assumption of Haley's parents, Sarah. Even worse, H's parents are not always around for the new couple in Season 2. So when I watch this, yes, Deb is out of line, BUT she's the only one being a real parent here. These kids are 16! I always had the impression that Karen wasn't into Keith until Seasons 3/4. Isn't it interesting how different people have different interpretations? And here's a spoiler : onetreehillblog.com is reporting that the name of the first ep in Season 7 will be the Roger Water's song: "4:30 a.m.: Apparently They Were Travelling Abroad." Possibly Mark's sense of humor about Leyton??

The moment when Nathan proposes in the flashback is my favorite moment in OTH history. I love how it's spontaneous and he just looks at her and says it. He doesn't ask a question, he just speaks from his heart. IDK I love it.

I guess I'm a sappy romantic as well.

Alyssa -- Doh! This is what happens when I snag another post to keep the formatting. Ignore that part about Season 6 -- that wasn't supposed to be there, obviously. We'll be podcasting the whole season.

Erica -- We're waiting for some info from the network for the new season shows.

MattJ -- The implication is that Haley's parents DID give their permission. Also, I suspect the basketball season lasts nine months in Tree Hill -- if not longer.

Hey there, glad to hear you starting season 2. I just listened to your season 1 podcasts, and thought they were great; you had me laughing out loud throughout.

The Whitey in the hospital thing wasn't completely out of the blue; at the end of season 1, he missed the playoff game they lost because of his eye condition, and in the finale they did have a scene showing that the news was worse than he expected.

Didn't Haley's parents actually have to give permission? The timeline on OTH is pretty bizarre, but all of season 1 was the length of a high school basketball season; I can't believe even the most hippy of parents would let their 16 year old daughter marry a guy after dating for less than 3 months.

where is your podcasts about upcoming shows? and where is your article about Hilary Duff being on GG?

So happy to finally get season two podcasts started! When you said that you weren't podcasting again until season six starts I'm assuming that's a typo, but does that mean that we only get a few season two eps before we have to wait again? Or do you mean after you finish watching this season?

P.S. It's funny that you should mention girls frolicking and pajama-party pillow fights... keep watching for more details lol...

Even though I am a huge leyton fan I really do love this season, but it does take patience to get to the good episodes in the middle and later this season.
