Stylista: Nice Guys Finish Last

The bickering continues on another episode of Stylista with no end in sight. At first, the constant tension between the contestants injected a bit of catty fun into the reality show, but who has the stamina to keep up with this level of infighting over the course of many weeks? We're starting to feel like the lone child caught up in the precursor of a nasty divorce.

Cologne's surprise ousting last week still reverberates throughout the Elle offices, especially since the stakes get raised this week and two – read it – two of our exasperating friends will be sent home packing.

Once again, Kate and Megan butt heads at the loft and at work, which is about as surprising as hunky actor Robert Pattinson reducing teenage girls to tears at every stop on his promotional "Twilight" tour. (We're hoping you can denote the sarcasm in that analogy). The big twist occurred when Kate managed to rile Danielle up into a frenzy by belittling D's retail experience as a personal shopper. (As if dropping out of law school gives Kate the prerogative to criticize). Now, we're pretty sure that when Michael physically held Danielle back from lunging at Kate (and who could blame her?), the maneuver was done in jest, but we'll never really know what would have transpired without the human blockade.

Kate calls her mother in tears about the rest of the house ganging up on her and the mother suggests throwing in the towel and coming home! Seriously? If Kate fell off of a horse, would her mother then tell her it's acceptable to just leave the stable and never look at another stallion for the rest of her life? Probably.

The editorial challenge found the contestants styling the "environment" for a fashion shoot. Devin picked the teams after winning the assistant task and grouped all the drama queens together: Megan, Ashlie, Danielle and Kate. We could just hear the time bomb ticking, waiting for the team to implode. Per usual, Kate wasn't satisfied with anyone’s ideas but her own, but this time Megan walked away from the shoot sulking. For all the lip service these kids waste expounding on how much "experience" they have, walking away from a challenge reeks of inexperience.

In our eyes the editorial challenge was a toss-up as both projects incorporated elements unique to the pages of Elle and no one made any glaring snafus. Team Devin’s headless mannequins seemed like an artsy choice destined to win over Anne and even Team Drama excelled with a retro theme. Leave it to Anne to continuously defy expectations and choose the retro page, despite categorizing it as “safe.” Devin and Michael got the boot, which hurt. Kate hit the nail on the head when she blubbered, “They’re sending all the nice people home.”

So what does this tell us – to survive a career in fashion you better be ready to release your inner Harpy? Did Devin and Michael lose this week for being too nice? Is karma ever going to give Megan a swift kick in the behind? Tell us your thoughts!
