Dreamy Dads and Hot Moms: CW Parents Make The Cut!
We’ve been having fun arguing over AOL Television’s list of Dreamy Dads and Hot Moms – which include several CW parents. AOL picks CW fathers Keith Mars (Veronica Mars), Luke Danes (Gilmore Girls) and John Winchester (Supernatural) for their Dreamy Dads roster; Neesee James (All of Us) and Lorelai Gilmore (Gilmore Girls) represent the network on the Hot Moms list.
While we agree that all of the people listed are smokin’ hot, we’re having a bit more disagreement over their parental street cred. Take the dads: Keith is, hands down, one of the best fathers on TV, but Luke Danes and John Winchester? Luke didn’t even know he had a kid for 13 years, and we have to admit the April plotline slowed the show down for us. John is an admirable Hunter, but as a father he left much to be desired – spending the kids’ college fund on ammo, treating his sons like soldiers instead of kids, and keeping vital knowledge secret from them is just the tip of the iceberg with John. We admit that he gets points for clawing his way out of hell to save his sons from a demon, but we’re still not sure he should be entered into the Father Hall of Fame anytime soon.
As for the moms… should we be concerned that the only moms on the list are from shows that aren’t coming back? Does that mean that the network no longer provides vital mother love? What about Martha Kent? Rochelle from Everybody Hates Chris? Heck, you can argue that Tyra Banks acts as the mother hen to a dozen girls every cycle of her show – doesn’t that count?
Granted, the pickings can be a bit slim when it comes to positive parental figures on the network. Most adults on Hidden Palms or One Tree Hill are disqualified from the get-go, and you don’t see a lot of parental nurturing on Friday Night Smackdown. And we’ve lost some good parents recently – the Camdens (of every generation), Reba, various Gilmores, Keith Mars. But the feature got us thinking – who do you think are the best moms and dads on the CW? Which character should get the “World’s Best Mom” mug? Which dad deserves more than a bottle of aftershave or a tie on Father’s Day? Let us know what you think in the comments!

I really believe that Lorelai and luke should get the titles.
i mean first of all, lorelai has been rory's biggest rollmodel since she was born when most kids
cant wait to get out of their parents house!
As for luke, even though he didnt know april for 13 years, he did all he could to have a close bond with her and he succeeded!
Even before that he was really close to rory and acted as if that were his own daughter!

I think that john winchester is the perfect father i mean he gave up his soul to ave dean how maby other fathers would do that and we all know that karen roe from one tree hill would be the perfect choice for the mother i mean hello she made best mothers on television and she beat lorelie and reba and rochelle frome hates chris so come on people...

How can you not say Daddy Winchester was a good father? He gave up is soul for his son and then crawled his way out of hell to help his children! Oh, yeah, dreamy dad material, he sure is! Just look at him!

I think that the entire Dreamiest Dad's premise was based solely on looks not personality or parenting ability so John Winchester definately should have been #1 on the list.
As far as parenting I don't think that people give him enough credit. If you found out your spouse was killed by a demon and everything you had always been taught was a myth or fantasy was real and trying to kill how do you think you would have fared?

Probably not, Sarah. I guess I just don't think it's very fair to say that Dean would so highly respect someone who just plain didn't deserve it. Then too, I don't see any of those other fathers having to go through nearly the turmoil and loss that John went through.
Oh, and I thought I should probably point out that this particular article seems to be all about how hot or dreamy the dads are which has nothing at all to do with parenting anyway. ;)
Also, I forgot to mention in my previous post that Lorelai seems like a obvious choice to me for the mom category.

ya she's very hot mom!

Yeah, Bob Hardy is probably the best parent on Hidden Palms -- although he doesn't have much competition. Tess? Skip? Eeek.
As for John Winchester -- I've said it before, I'll say it again -- He's a great hunter, and seriously hot, but a lousy father. Yes, Sam and Dean turned out surprisingly well, but I still think that's despite John, not because of John.
But this is one of those questions that will probably never be resolved.

For the best mom it has to be Lorelai no doubt. She raised her on her own and look at the girl Rory became, also Lorelai and Rory had such a close relationship and were best friends.
For the best dad I think it should be Luke Danes because he was such a good father for April once she came into his life. It wasnt his fault he wasnt there for her the first 13 years he didnt know and had no way of knowing. Also he was so much of a father to Rory and was there for her when she needed him and would do anything for her.

Poor John Winchester, he never catches a break from people. I'll be the first to agree that he could be a pretty lousy parent at times, but he certainly had some stellar points too.
The thing I think is so great is that he's complex and it's hard to understand his character at first but if you give him a chance you can really understand his point of view. Ultimately I think that giving up his life for Dean's and clawing back out of hell to save his boys earns him some sort of parent award.
I have to say one quick thing as well. People are forever getting mad at John for not telling Dean more about the Sam. But I think that, since John's deal included just seeing Dean was okay and nothing else, if he had tried to tell Dean more the Yellow-Eyed-Demon probably would have killed him instantly and he probably didn't want to do that to Dean. At the same time he felt he had to tell him something since he felt Dean had to be on his guard.
In the end I don't think that Dean and Sam would have turned out so well if their Dad hadn't been a good parent at least much of the time.

Bob Hardy is doing his best as Johnny's step-father, IMHO.

Ok so maybe Papa Winchester wasn't the best dad ever but he did the best he could. Not only did he raise 2 amazing boys on his own, he's taught them both valuable lessons that they continue to use to save peoples lives. Might not be ideal but at least they are making a difference. Besides the poor guy gave up his life and went to hell to save Dean - if that doesn't score big daddy points then I don't know what does.
We miss you Papa Winchester!

I think Lorelai as a best mother- shes always really been there for rory, even when they were going through that rough patch in season 6, and she also considered herself a friend.
Luke danes should get the best dad. even though april wasn't in his life for 13 years. he quickly got close to her, and treated her as if he'd known her all her life. fighting to get custidy of her. he planned a stinkin boat trip with her for petes sacks. thats just so sweet.

Best Mom should be Karen Roe from One Tree Hill. And Best Dad? I don't know. Keith Mars was the best in my opinion. I would say Dan Scott, but the man is just plain evil. So Keith Scott, if he were alive, I guess.
